Saturday at the Quilt Museum - Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses - Part 1

So, I've been bitten by the "Patchwork of the Crosses" bug.  English Paper Piecing has not really appealed to me in the past.  I've done a little hexie work with the most recent Block of the Week project, but that's it.

There have been a couple of times when seeing a Lucy Boston block that I've been stopped in my tracks.  So, I'm going to indulge in sharing some of my favorites.  The ones I like best seem to fall into two main categories: 1800's Reproduction and Art Deco.  Now I'm not historically an Art Deco kind of gal, but some of these blocks are stunning!

We're going to take a few weeks and look at these gems. This week and next we'll focus on the 1800's Reproduction blocks.  I'm linking the photos to their original post if possible.

First, this is the original quilt made by Lucy Boston in the late 1950's.

These two are from contemporary quilters.
The variety is stunning.

Now for some blocks!

Happy Quilting!

- I am not a quilt historian.  I simply enjoy finding interesting quilts and sharing them with you!

  1. Thank you Debbie for sharing. The blocks are stunning. I've made a few but mine are not anything like these beauties.

  2. Thank you for sharing. For a while, there were many quilters making these blocks and such interesting ones. Tempting to purchase what is needed but have resisted.

    1. You're welcome, Karen. I've resisted too, until this week! :)
