So, I've been bitten by the "Patchwork of the Crosses" bug. English Paper Piecing has not really appealed to me in the past. I've done a little hexie work with the most recent Block of the Week project, but that's it.
There have been a couple of times when seeing a Lucy Boston block that I've been stopped in my tracks. So, I'm going to indulge in sharing some of my favorites. The ones I like best seem to fall into two main categories: 1800's Reproduction and Art Deco. Now I'm not historically an Art Deco kind of gal, but some of these blocks are stunning!
We're going to take a few weeks and look at these gems. This week and next we'll focus on the 1800's Reproduction blocks. I'm linking the photos to their original post if possible.
First, this is the original quilt made by Lucy Boston in the late 1950's.
These two are from contemporary quilters.
The variety is stunning.
